We aim to preserve the Earth with all its inhabitants - human beings, animals, and plant life- and pass it on to future generations in an even better condition than today.
Our GoalFacilitating future generations to become aware, healthy, hygienic, responsible, altruistic, respectful of themselves, their environment, the nature and all living things.
Our StoryOur story begins in the year 1999 when, during a hearing test, a patient invites his doctor (who became one of our founding members) to his village, saying, "we have a lot of children with hearing problems". When our doctor friend visits the village the next year, not only the hearing impaired but almost everyone in the village insists on getting an examination. The crowd gets too much to handle for one doctor so he promises to come back with a few others, and leaves. This is the first episode that leads the way for SYMBIOSIS. "It was fairly easy to find volunteers" says our friend. "Hard part was the practice. Even people with no complaints were asking for examinations. In time, we found out that the adults and the elders had already been to –or taken to- doctors. However, It seems like in our culture, childen don't get the same amount of attention." So, we made a point of examining the children first, and if we still have time left, we also treat the adults and the elderly who are in need. We only feel content with our work if we can make sure people continue their prescribed meds after being examined. Pharmaceutical companies' support is a valuable asset to SYMBIOSIS. And of course there are the small gifts; when we arrange an examination trip, we make sure that we bring along clothing and shoes donated by factory owners and second-hand items donated by our members and friends. We provide school materials, books, computers, toys, etc., but especially shoes... Children wear out shoes more than anything. Over the years, we have collected so many memories, some sad and some comical. The most touching moments are the long goodbyes with hugs and tears. Then, little girls promising us that they too will become doctors when they grow up, so that they too can help others. We wish the best of luck to them on their journeys; and we hope SYMBIOSIS will provide us with future memories to be shared. |
