2010 - First Lullaby in Kosovo - Health to Peace

The first step of the project started in April at Prizren State Hospital. A two days course about Newborn Hearing Screening were given to the pediatricians and 14 pediatric nurses of the neonatholgy department. They were then trained to use the Otoport OAE equipment which is donetad to the Hospital. We are greatefull to LIONS Istanbul 118-T and Erisci Electronics who jointly sponsored for the this equipment.

Every newborn in Prizren State Hospital is being tested for his hearing since the 12th of April 2010. First and second test results of each and every baby are being kept on special forms for the follow ups and national data collection system.

First Lullaby project team will go to Kosovo again on the 11 th of July to check the “refer” babies in Prizren and to start the second step of the project in Peja (Ipek) State Hospital. Peja is another district of Kosovo where the majority is Albanian origin. A nurse from Prizren State Hospital who is now experienced in the NBHS testing will join the Symbiosis Team for the training in Peja State Hospital.

Also Anita Moura from Brazil will join the team for the SolarEar project in Kosovo.

2009 - Gocek

540 children examined for the diagnosis of obesity with the contributions of Gocek community health center. 3-day meetings was held for parents of obesity, balanced nutrition and exercise information.

2009 - Kosovo

Our health care team examined 1.259 children and 217 adults in schools and community health centers in Pristina, Yanova, Podujevo, Mitrovica, Gjilan, Doburcan, Pec, Skenderaj, Gjakova, Mamusa and Prizren. 100 women were examined for breast cancer. Newborn babies were screened for their hearing (TEOAE) with Otoport equipment.

2008 - Damal (Ardahan)

School children in Mustafa Kemal district were screened and treated.

2008 - Afghanistan

12 members of our health care team examined children and adults in hospitals and community health centers in Kabul, Vardak, Bagrami, Mazar-e Sharif and Shebirgan and at a village nearby. Three major and two minor surgeries were performed by our surgeons.

Our volunteers also donated pharmaceuticals and humanitarian aid to those who need it. We have organized a training program for a general surgeon from Shebirgan at Şişli Etfal Hastanesi, a major research and education hospital for children, in İstanbul. The programme will continue for three months.

2008 - Yalova Milli Piyango School for children with intellectual disabilities (Yalova)

81 disabled children were examined for various health problems in 25th of April.

2007 - Samatya Fish Festival (Istanbul)

As a contribution to the Fish Festival at Samatya square we organized a healt screening unit and scaned 125 children and 53 adults.

2007 - Qozak, Şemkir, Tovuz, Gedebey, Şamahii (Azerbaijan)

1398 children  and 290 adults were examined for various health problems.

2007 - Karakoyunlu (Iğdır)

We worked at the schools in 6 villages and 1 school for the intellectually disabled.

2006 - Camili, Borçka (Artvin)

VKV Amerikan Hospital sponsored this project where we examined the elderly inhabitants of  7 villages in this remote paradise on Karçal mountains. All the young ones had migrated to bigger cities we were told.

2006 - Batum, Kobuleti, Helvaçauri (Georgia)

Turkish- Georgian Fund for Education and Culture organized this trip to the refugees in Georgia. We examined children and also adults with health problems.

2005 - Çıldır, Hanak, Damal (Ardahan)

We visited 7 different villages and covered all the school children there.

2004 - Çukurca, Şemdinli, Yüksekova (Hakkari)

School children in 10 different schools of the villages were screened, treated, educated. One child later treated in VKV. Amerikan  Hospital in Istanbul. One child was fitted with a leg protesis in Istanbul.

2003 - Derik, Mazıdağ, Kızıltepe, Nusaybin (Mardin)

We performed general health screening to all children at the schools of these villages. Educated them about their health and care for nature.

2002 - Akçay (Şırnak)

2001 - Gevaş (Van)

We have examined more adults than children in this village. We also performed an examination in the prison where we build up friendships that we still keep fondly.

1999 - Selim (Kars)

Health screening and hygene education for children. Examined and treated adults of the nearby villages.

 

 

 

Since 1999 Symbiosis Health and Nature Volunteers have screened 12.939 children and examined 3.154 adults.

 

  

2008 - Yalova Milli Piyango School for children with intellectual disabilities

81 children at the Milli Piyango School for the Intellectually Disabled children were given a visual and auditory presentation for environmental care and proper garbage disposal. Most of the children also participated in the gardening activity planting and learning to care for 29 plants.

2007 - İznik (Bursa)

School children and members of Zirve Mountaineering Club joined us in cleaning the shores of İznik Lake from the garbage.

2006 - Mount Ararat

7 Alpinist members of Symbiosis summitted  Ararat (5165m). Cleaned the mountain from the garbage left in the 2 camping areas. We drow the attention of media on this subject of "bring back everything you take to mountain".

2006 - Küre Mountain Zümrü Plato (Kastamonu)

Cleaned all the garbage and left overs from the picnikers.
